Senior Portraits for Daniel in Ephrata

Saturday, August 30th, 2008

Another senior session right here in in Ephrata. Daniel was a really nice local guy, and though he was a little reserved he started relaxing, especially once we got him in his own element kicking the soccer ball around.

I like #2. Kind of a fun silly shot, but Daniel really reminds me of an older version of Malcolm (Frankie Muniz) in this shot. Here’s that and a few other favs. As always click any image for the BIG view.

New Fisheye Lens

Thursday, August 7th, 2008

I like have a variety of looks, and a fisheye lens has been on my list for some time not only for nature, but for portraits. For those who don’t know, a fisheye is a really wide angle lens, so much so that it distorts a bit and makes things kinda round looking. It’s not a lens for every situation, but it can be a really cool effect. This 15mm Sigma Fisheye lens can have up to 180 degree field of view.

Well I’ve been playing with it and it’s pretty neat. Here’s a few shots of Cyrus, my wife Sondra, and brother Neil. Nothing amazing in the portrait quality here, just some fun shots.

I’m going to be experimenting with what I can do using a fisheye lens, including doing some nature work with it. Stay tuned… Gav

Family Portraits for my Brother

Wednesday, July 23rd, 2008

This session was actually for my older brother Grant, his wife Aimee, and of course their little girl Grace. We shot these at their house up in the country above coulee city on a Sunday evening.

The sun was going down, and though time is tight at sunset, the lighting is sooo nice. I love it when I can do family pictures and capture that relaxed fun side of things that shows a family being a family.

I also had some fun using our HDR technique on Grant’s bike. This allowed us to get grant on the motorcycle, and still have the sunset bold in the background.

As always ckick any image for a larger view.
